Homelessness

At Hornby High School we were introduced to 'Project Based Learning' (PBL). This is a learning system that helps students become independent learners as well as discussing in groups about a certain project that has been chosen and widen up our knowledge about the project by using the power of research. After we have an understanding about our subject we were told to take action and make a positive impact on society.

I chose homelessness because this is one of the massive issues that both individuals and groups within society all around the globe suffer from. By making a small positive impact within our community can help them realise that 'there's always a light at the end of the tunnel'. Three other people I have paired up with are Emmanuel, Lina and Shakira. We formed a group together because we all have the same idea on what we would focus on and how we will take action to try and make a small difference. We named our group 'Seekers', meaning to find a way to solve an issue.

We then got given some questions to answer about our project:
Who is affected? - People who are unemployed and not accepted into society just for being themselves and just people with a low income.
What are the issues? - The issue is that some people who are either unemployed or earn a low income can't provide themselves or family with the necessary needs like food/ water, housing /shelter, health care etc.
When did this start and how is it progressed? - Homelessness has been a major issue for centuries and continues to be an issue today. About 1.6 people lack sufficient housing
Where is this happening? - This is happening worldwide
Why is this happening? - This is happening because of war, poverty, mental health problems, drug issues, physical health issues and domestic violence.

Below are some of the links to the websites that I have used.
